Lady in Red

It's now February and whenever I think about this month, I think of my little sister, since it's her birth month. Then, I know we all know about Valentine's Day too where people show their affection once a year. I remember when I was little, I would always look forward to the little Hello Kitty or Spiderman cards and delicious sweets from my classmates. Now as I'm older, I've realized this holiday is pointless to me. There's so many expectations and it seems like there's some kind of competition with couples who want to be known as "#relationshipgoals". Don't get me wrong, there's no harm in gifting your sweetheart flowers or treating them out as a "thank you", but it shouldn't be out of guilt. We have Valentine's Day as a day to make our love ones feel extra special or is it to distinguish all the single people? All jokes aside, whether you have a significant other or not, get some friends, dress up, eat good, and have a fun day/night out! Be around people you love. Valentine's Day is an excuse to treat yourself and look good.

Before I go on, I wanted to say a huge thank you to my friend, Emmy! She made this shoot possible and executed my ideas perfectly. On this particular day, there were so many mishaps like the weather and how the car battery died, but luckily, we managed to make this happen. Funny thing is, we chose the perfect day and time to shoot because before and after this shoot, it rained.

I had the pleasure to showcase this beautiful dress from www.gitionline.com. I haven't worn a long dress ever since my prom in high school (Fun fact: I didn't go to the Senior Ball). To get an idea how long the dress is, I'm 5'6. This cross wrap dress is definitely an eye-catcher because of it's deep v-neckline, high slit, and open back. At first, I was very hesitant to wear this dress because it's revealing, but that's why there's something called fashion tape! Aside from this gorgeous bright red color, GitiOnline also carries a black and blue color.

For this look, I had a tough time accessorizing. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go with a statement necklace, a thick diamond choker, long necklaces, etc. I wanted the dress to steal the show, so I decided to keep my necklaces simple and dainty. You can never go wrong with a little bling. As for my shoes, I was contemplating about what color I should go for - nude or black. In the end, I decided to go with pointed nude heels because not only did it make the look effortless and timeless, but it's a neutral colored heel, so the red can pop. Both the choker and layered necklace are from Forever21.com. As for my makeup, I used the morphebrushes.com 35F Fall Into Frost palette. I'm not an affiliate with Morphe, but I'm sure you can find a discount somewhere! For my brows, I used elfcosmetics.com brow pencil in "Neutral Brown" and I believe I used kokolashes.com "Queen B's" for my lashes!
