A Pocket Full of Sunshine (DIY)

(...but in this case it's fries and burgers!)
Reasons why I  pocket tees:

  • Very versatile
  • Plain and simple, yet stylish
  • Adds a great touch to an outfit
  • Unisex (Females AND males can both wear it)
  • (I'm able to put my pens and mini calculator in there... lol just kidding)

Tuyen's Thoughts:

Before I get started on this DIY, I want to announce that I'm actually doing a giveaway soon, including THIS pocket tee (and other rad stuff)! Who doesn't love fries and burgers?! Follow me on Instagram: @typicaltuyen to figure out how to enter and see the official rules. Alright let's do this!

What You'll Need:
  1. Fabric
  2. T-shirt
  3. Pen
  4. Piece of Paper
  5. Fabric glue
  6. Scissors or a rotary cutter
  7. Needle + Thread
  8. Measuring tape

Now the first thing you should do is figure out how big you want your pocket to be. For me, I cut out a square first (Length: 5 in. / Width: 5 in.) and then I cut out the sizing of the actual pocket. Why? Because trial and error and I didn't want raw edges, so I'm going to fold it.

This is where I folded the fabric against the pocket paper to know where to glue and how thick the sides are going to be. *Be careful to not get the glue on you! It'll stick to your skin and its very hard to take off. If it does happen, QUICKLY rinse or rub it off!

So after you're done gluing your pocket, you're free to place it wherever, but as the good ol' pocket tees typically have their pockets on the left or right side of the chest area. At this point, you're free to glue it OR sew it down to secure it.
(Excuse the really wrinkly t-shirt, it's been in a pile of clothes... oops.)

You can go beyond your imagination and design the shirt however you like. Add some more or less here or there, it's all up to you!

And you're finished

Happy DIY'ing!
