Did Someone Say BF Jeans? (DIY)

Outfit of the Day:
  • Top: B&W striped top - thrifted
  • Bottoms: Levi boyfriend jeans - thrifted (but DIY'ed)
  • Shoes: Black Chunky Sandals - H&M

Tuyen's Thoughts:

- I've received many compliments on my distressed boyfriend jeans. People are so surprised or impressed when they find out I made them myself. It's really not that hard! It just takes alot of time and effort, but it's worth it. I don't remember the exact price of the jeans, but I'm sure it was just under $10. I've seen boyfriend jeans range from $27 to even $80, which is definitely out of my price range, so I decided to do it myself!

You're probably wondering, "Tuyen, what did you use?" Well it's simple. You really don't need to go to a craft store to buy any materials, really. I used:
  1. Fiskars Contour Rotary Cutter (Alternative: Scissors)
  2. Knitting Needle Kit

I would take you step by step, but I've already done my jeans before I started this blog unfortunately, but I'll try to make it as clear as possible. If you have any questions, comment down below and I'll try my best to answer!

  1.  Lay out your jeans. (IMPORTANT: Place cardboard or some type of hard cover under the part you're going to distress because you can rip through your jeans!)
  2. Mark the places you want to distress your jeans. If you're not sure, look online for pictures of distressed boyfriend jeans, that's what I did, since it was my first time.
  3. Get to work! It will be messy because you have to be careful and be aware to not rip the white thread, so you don't leave a gaping hole on your jeans unless you're going for that look.
  4. Throw it in the washing machine/dryer. It may come out crazy looking, but you can definitely cut out the unnecessary parts and fix it up, so you can walk out of the house rockin' your very own boyfriend jeans!

Happy DIY'ing! ❤
